Pride In the Work
The vast majority of health care providers work for a larger corporation, one that puts their stamp of approval on every piece of work generated by said employee. Arrive for work on time, punch the time clock, provide some level of care and punch out. Rinse and repeat until the week is done. There is a low level of accountability, as mediocre is acceptable behind the name of the larger brand. Pride in one’s own product, and confidence in yourself are sacrificed for the stability of a regular paycheck.
Finding quality health care is difficult to do today. Like most places in the developed world, the options are nearly limitless with little in the way of a high value product. The grocery store is a great example. There are some providers within corporate health care that remain steadfast in their ability to provide high level care, but they are the exception. We have generated a system that pushes patients through a carousel of providers, coming back around to the starting point no better off than they were before they started the ride.
Sifting through the available information is effortful and requires due diligence. It is not impossible to find someone that takes pride in the work they do as a health care provider. They do exist and they are worth the time and energy needed to find them. There is a realm of people that are truly concerned for the well-being of their community and they deliver on their desire to make things better.
