Context is Crucial

I had a conversation with a coach last week that brought about a point that is often overlooked. We were discussing programming for a client of his, someone I also work with in physical therapy. The conversation revolved around specific exercises and their potential impact on the client’s mobility, as well as their ability to help the client achieve their desired goals.

As a coach the exercise interventions we choose affect our clients and can have favorable or unfavorable outcomes. There is no way to know how the situation will pan out, we take in information during an assessment, and make decisions based on our interpretations. We then re-assess, develop an explanation for the observed outcomes and determine the next course of action. This is how we improve, and this is how we provide personalized care. Every client has unique needs that require thoughtful solutions, and the context of those needs is always changing. We must be adaptable in our approach, fluidly altering our plans as needed.

The cohesive environment we strive to develop at Pursuit Fitness is unlike most other places. Coaches communicate with other coaches to provide the best experience possible for a client. Clients provide coaches with meaningful work that propels their motivation to do their best. It is almost as if we have created a perpetual motion machine.
